Chirp LOVES a good walk often
my BFF

Chirp, my yorkie chihuahua mix, was found cold, wet and shivering in my local shelter in RI.

I was there to volunteer and left with her unexpectedly.

Attached to her kennel was a hand scribbled not from a dear lady in Arkansas where Chirp had come from. As soon as I read the note, I knew she was going to be mine.

Chirpee was sassy and undisciplined. When she got home, she was crabby and jumped right up on the bed, walked over to MY pillow and stared me right in the eye as she peed on it.

We knew we had some work to do!

It took us about a week to realize that Chirpee must have thought we were another temporary arrangement, she just wouldn't let us in.

I knew she was smart so we tightened the reigns a bit, attaching her to us in the house by a leash to our belt and caught her in udesireable acts and would correct them.

A week after that, she came alive, learned to do her business outside and showed her true colors...which were amazing.

It's been three years. I can't believe Chirp was that dog I happened upon one day in April.

She was the official greeter at our dog bakery and became sort of a town celebrity.

Quirky, intelligent, sensitive, funny and sassy, I couldn't imagine a better side kick or a cuter one at that.

She gets along great with our other 2 dogs and schools all of the foster dogs we have had.

Recently she lost her eye due to a freak accident, running underfoot of some bigger dogs to get to the action sooner.

As traumatic as the event was, Chirp was back to her usual self in a mere 2 days! She truly is my inspiration.

Chirpee is now 4ish years old. I would highly recommend a dog like Chirpee to an owner that has some dog saaviness because she can be clever and manipulative if you are a pushover.

Enjoy the pics!

Here's a great option named Lucky if you are considering a CHORKIE adoption that I found while browsing Petfinder...
