Dangerous Foods for Dogs

by Lora Redden
(Cape Coral, FL (USA))

I had two female toy poodles. One lived until 15 yrs old, the other until 18 yrs old (she passed away this July 2nd).

They were my babies and I loved them so!

It has been my understanding that dogs should not ingest avocado or fresh tomato.

I do not remember why, but have always avoided them with my pets.

Cheese.....

by Sandy
(Santa Clara, UT)

Question

My yorkie likes prepackaged sliced cheese. How much cheese is too much cheese?

Answer

It is said that dogs are lactose intolerant, however if you do not notice anything like diarrheoa, constipation or any other digestive problems it should be fine to keep giving your yorkie some cheese.

What I would suggest though is not to overdo it. Just give a little bit at a time, as in a little part of a cheese slice, and try not to feed your yorkie cheese everyday.

Bread will make your yorkie bloated

by Jen
(Liverpool, UK)

I thought bread was just a perfectly innocent treat to give to my little yorkie but apparently the wheat in the bread can cause serious bloating in the tummy.

My little Sophie was balooned up and constipated for days.

So think about what you are giving you doggy. If it is not in the pet shop under...'dog food' I would probably not give it to your pooch.

I know you think it's a lovely treat and I am sure your doggy will absolutely love it but they don't know what food is best for them...just what tastes best : ) and it is kinder to give them what is good for them than what they want.

You can also buy dogggy chocolate now!
