Female yorkie glands

Question
Where are the glands of the female Yorkie? We have a female and she is forever licking her rear end, we take her to the vets but it is proving too often and expensive. Can we do this ourselves?
Answer
A female yorkie does have glands on either both sides of the anus. They normally express after bowel movements however they can sometimes become clogged which is what seems to be happening to your yorkie.
It is possible to express the glands yourselves. What I would suggest is to take her to the vet again and ask the vet to teach you how to express the glands so that you can do it next time.
